If you know somebody who is at risk of falling for fraud or cruel scams then you can take advantage of a free opportunity to learn how to help them – or encourage them to sign up themselves.
An online training session will take place on Thursday morning, which will feature a trading standards officer giving an overview of fraud and scams followed by a police officer who will specifically cover the threat of doorstep crime and courier fraud, both of which are on the increase.
The Friends against Scams Webinar will have a British Sign Language interpreter and subtitled.
It takes place from 10am until 11.30am on Thursday (April 18) and you can register to take part at iw.observer/scam-training.
Locally IW Council Trading Standards Officers are available to train groups of people on scam awareness or give community talks. Just email Sally.Ash@iow.gov.uk for more information.
