More than 30 Porsches toured the Island last weekend to raise funds for the RNLI after arriving on Friday.

The rally was a joint event, organised by Ray Le Goubin, of Porsche Club GB, and David Shields, from Porsche 993 Club.

It is part of this year’s Porsche GB’s charity, and members from various districts are travelling around the coast, visiting as many RNLI stations as possible using a yellow plastic RNLI welly as a baton.

David, from Cowes, said: “The majority of us arrived in Yarmouth on Friday, and spent Saturday travelling around the Cowes and Bembridge lifeboat stations. Every person who presents the wellington to the crew then gets to sign it.

“We travelled around the Island coast, taking in the Military Road, and driving up to The Needles and as far as Ventnor.

“Members stayed at the Lakeside Park Hotel, at Wootton, where we had dinners organised on the two nights. We also raised £900 for the charity following a raffle.

“Sam Woodman of Wightlink helped us to get the majority of our cars on the same ferry, and also kept their Yarmouth waiting bays clear for us for a photo shoot when we arrived.

“Lakeside and Northwood House allowed us to park our cars there when we visited the lifeboat station.”

Ray, from Shalfleet, made three special plaques which were presented to each station.
