An outstanding performance from Mia Lawrence helped IW Ladies 1st XI win 4-2 away at Chichester, with Evie Fairhurst scoring twice, and a goal apiece from Polly Rider and Katy Ednay. The win saw the Islanders at level third in South Central Division Two.
The Ladies 2nd team match was called off due to the frozen pitch, as was the Men’s 2nd XI fixture.
IW Men lost 2-4 at home to a strong South Central Division Two Romsey side, with the Islanders scoring in the first half, through Reuben Smallwood-Butler, and skipper, Adam Payne. They were unable to add to their score despite building attacks from a brave and battling defence, held together by player-of-the-match, Alex Breach.
In the second round of the National Plate, goals from Evie Fairhurst (2) and Polly Rider, capped off a winning weekend, seeing the U-16 side beating Bournemouth 3-2.
The U-14 boys’ side lost to Petersfield.
IW Men 1st XI travel to Portsmouth 2nd XI, with the 2nd XI awarded a bye. IW Women’s 1st XI are home to Waterside, and 2nd XI are away to Haslemere IV.
