Plenty of entries at St Helens show

A total of 233 class entries were presented at the recent St Helens Spring Show in the village primary school.

Classes included spring flowers, vegetables, fruit, pot plants, flower arrangements, craft, photographs, children’s class, cookery, a ‘potato person’ and a class for fun – ‘Eggstravanganza’.

Prizes were presented by Peter May, from Fort View Tyres, taking time out from fund-raising for ‘To Be In Her Shoes’ for Wight DASH (Domestic Abuse Support Hub).

Results: FJ Marriott Cup – trumpet daffodils: Andrew Nightingale/Anne Barlow; Elaine and Frank Cole Award – double daffodils: Tobba Cole/Anne Barlow; Alford Coombes Memorial Cup – highest aggregate – all other daffodils, Anne Barlow; Ron and Beryl Martin Award – camellias stem: Julie Harris; Charles Brown Cup – mixed cut flowers: Andria Richards; Children’s Cup – highest aggregate children’s classes: Alexander; George Summerville Memorial Cup – flowering pot plant: Kerris Hammond; Mary Edmonds Memorial Cup – highest aggregate – recipe classes: Carolanne Page.
