Fund raiser Peter May is taking on his biggest challenge yet, with a 24-hour walk in four-inch heels on a treadmill – a world first!
Peter, who owns Fort View Tyres, St Helens, has spent the last year raising more than £12,000 for Wight DASH, a charity which supports women and their dependent children who have experienced disadvantage or domestic violence.
He has been all over the Island, giving up his spare time serving in cafes, shops and restaurants in high heels, including walking a marathon in Ryde. His efforts have been reported on, and supported by, the IW Observer, since he started his fund-raising efforts.
He said: “We now have the venue and the date for the 24-hour ‘Treadmill in Heels challenge’. “With thanks to Janice and Ryde Tesco Extra, where the challenge will take place over the August Bank Holiday.
“I honestly don’t know if I can do this, but I’m not a quitter and I will certainly give it my best shot on the day.
“This has never been done in the UK and probably for a good reason! It was done in the US in a shopping mall by a lady in three-inch heels a few years ago. Anyway, I will give it a go in four-inch stiletto heels and fingers crossed.
“I want to thank Sarah Marie Tyrrell-Jones for her help; she really is a special lady. Also a massive thanks to my team, who are all amazing.
“I will be looking for businesses to sponsor hours on this event and will need help getting through those small hours, so please come along if you can and give us a boost.“
