A gardening-themed quiz, organised by the IW Observer’s horticultural expert, Darren Everest, has raised more than £100 for charity.
The event last week was held at The Sun Inn, Calbourne, in front of a packed house.
Darren treated them to several rounds, including a picture round of 20 celebrity gardeners to identify and a music round which was a huge hit.
Many of the teams came along especially to test their horticultural knowledge and gave the regular quiz teams some stiff, if not light-hearted, competition!
The Sun Inn is currently raising money for the Daisy Chains’ children’s charity, and £114.50 was raised from entry fees for the quiz and donations. Darren said: “It was a fantastic evening and was lovely to see the pub full of people in what is often a quiet time of the year. The quizzers enjoyed their evening and their generosity to the charity was incredible. Thank you to Kate, Dave and all the team for a great night.“
