Fundraisers from Line Dance IW celebrated another successful year as they donated £1,000 to Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat (SSIL) service, during a fun evening at Sandown’s Broadway Centre, presenting a cheque to coxswain, Mark Birch.
Line-dance tutor, Katrina Kelly, said: “We know how much our dancers, who live in the Bay, value the work that Mark and his dedicated volunteer crew do, and we know how vital these funds are.”
Mark Birch responded: “SSIL would like to thank all of the line-dancers for their continued support of this voluntary service – we are fortunate to have them and appreciate the difference their help makes to the team.”
With around 50 line-dancers involved in the evening, all wearing orange, a special quiz and raffle was held to boost the funds. The fund-raisers plan further events to help provide vital equipment and training, with the Independent Lifeboat looking to extend its revetment base in the near future.
