Niton and Whitwell Horticultural Society held its Spring Show on Saturday with increased entries and visitors to get their 160th anniversary off to a flying start.
There was a marked increase in the number of floral art and handicraft entries and a 30 per cent increase in the number of individual exhibitors with many new faces.
Show Secretary, Lindy Rhodes, was delighted with the high standard of entries which also impressed the Judges across all categories.
The Society works hard to encourage the next generation of growers, bakers and makers. Finley Newbery, aged seven, took prizes across both children’s classes and for his entries in the adult classes.
It is the show secretary’s privilege to choose her favourite exhibit for special commendation and this was awarded to Beryl Webster for a glorious floral tribute to the 160th Anniversary.
The September Show will be held on Saturday, September 12. Enquiries to nitonandwhitwellhortsociety@gmail.com
