NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at the local Isle of Wight agency are delighted to have nominated local charity WightAID, to receive a donation of more than £3,000 from a national £1m ‘Agency Giving Fund’ launched by NFU Mutual’s Head Office.

In light of the national emergency this country is facing, NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, has allocated £1m to help local frontline charities at this difficult time.

To help ensure this support reaches all corners of the UK, NFU Mutual has reached out to its Appointed Representative network of local Agents. Consisting of around 300 independent Agency businesses and 9 NFU Mutual Branches, each have been given the opportunity to nominate a handful of local charities to receive a share of this fund.

This donation will allow WightAID to assist Isle of Wight frontline charities to continue their invaluable work for our most vulnerable individuals, who all face uncertain times from the impact of Covid-19.  John Heather, Senior Agent, (pictured above) said: “The Coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on everybody, including our customers and their local communities. Wight Aid is making a wonderful difference to our community in these challenging times, and we are proud to have been able to nominate this local charity to benefit from NFU Mutual’s national fund.”

Geoff Underwood, Founder and Chairman of WightAID, said: “During this current crisis, our immediate aim is to make sure that no family goes without food over the next few months. As time goes on, our focus will then move to Mental Health, Social Isolation, and Bereavement and we will be ensuring that this kind donation will be going to local charities that support those aims. We are delighted and truly grateful to NFU Mutual for their generous donation, which will go a long way to supporting those in the most need within our community at this difficult time”
