New Year Messages

Suzie Sheldon JP, HM Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight

Our family challenge over our quiet Christmas at home was that no-one was allowed to mention Covid and we nearly succeeded! We now face the New Year with the toughest restrictions in place but already baccinations are being rolled out here on the Island so I look forward to 2021 with optimism.
If we can all keep positive, set ourselves objectives and work together we will get through these testing times. Happy New Year.

Caroline Peel, High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight

I know we are all going to be pleased to see the back of 2020. It has been a difficult year for everyone – BUT – we now have the vaccine. Though it may not be the instant miracle cure for all the Island’s ills, it will give us all hope for the future. May I wish you all the very best for the New Year and look forward to meeting you all during my last few months in office.

Bob Seely, MP for the Isle of Wight

‘This year has been a hard one for many of us, but as we draw to a close, I would like to wish all Islanders a happy and safe New Year, and – with a vaccine on the way – a better 2021.

Cllr. Dave Stewart, Leader of the Isle of Wight Council

As 2020 ends there is no doubt the past year will be remembered for the Covid pandemic. But looking ahead 2021 can be remembered as the year in which we recovered our world and rebuilt Island life. Helped by the national vaccination programme and our unique Island spirit we will overcome adversity and build a better future for everyone. On that note I wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Norman Arnold, Federation of Small Businesses

Please support local business and suppliers whenever you can. The fantastic resilience our Island is so proud of is built on helping one another, we do believe in community.
There are Council elections in May. Regardless of political leaning, if you have ever thought of standing, this is the time!

Will Myles, MD, Visit Isle of Wight

The team and I at Visit Isle of Wight wish your readers the very best for 2021 – we will continue to work on your behalf to ensure that the Isle of Wight is the UK’s number one holiday island destination and we will welcome visitors back to the Island when the time is right – by working together, we are stronger!
