It’s just two weeks to go until this year’s Royal Isle of Wight County Show on Saturday and Sunday, July 8 and 9. Show organiser, the Royal Isle of Wight Agricultural Society, has announced a packed programme of events which includes all the usual popular parades, displays and competitions, plus some brand new entertainment.
One of the new acts for 2023 is the Sheep Show (Saturday and Sunday). This fun-filled show introduces you to nine different sheep breeds, with a live shearing display, followed by some dancing – yes, you read that correctly! The star-studded flock will treat you to ‘The Sheep Show Shuffle’ to round off a hugely entertaining and baa-rilliant event.
Trot along to see another first for this year’s show – the exciting Shetland Pony Grand National and the British Scurry & Carriage Trials, where ponies of all shapes and sizes gallop around an obstacle course as fast as they possibly can.
A new area in the showground is the children’s Reading Tent, supporting the High Sheriff’s child literacy theme. Children can take time out from all the excitement and have a relaxing read from a wide range of countryside books and enjoy listening to the storytellers.
Saturday & Sunday, July 8 and 9, 10am-5pm.
Adult day ticket: £10.50 online (£12.50 on the gate). Adult weekend ticket: £15 online (£20 on the gate). Under-16s are free with a paying adult.
