Mountbatten invites Islanders to Light up a Life at Christmas

Mountbatten is inviting Islanders to celebrate the lives of loved ones this Christmas, by dedicating a light on its remembrance tree.

Starting Saturday, November 1, supporters can go on-line to make a donation and dedicate a light. Each tribute will shine on Mountbatten’s physical remembrance tree, and appear on its virtual counterpart, with names displayed during the charity’s annual Light up a Life event on Sunday, December 7 at 4pm.

Brian Rayner, who is dedicating lights in memory of his wife and daughter – both cared for by Mountbatten – shared his story: “After my daughter, Nikki, and then my wife, Jan, died, I was in a very dark place. It was Mountbatten’s bereavement support that got me back on my feet and helped me feel less lonely.

“That’s why, this Christmas, I’m dedicating a light to my Nikki and Janet, and donating to give back to the charity that has given me and my family so much love and care.”

Every donation helps Mountbatten provide expert care and support to more than 2,300 people across the Island each day, including those facing death, dying, and bereavement.
