Trinity Theatre’s next production, in Cowes, is ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, one of Shakespeare’s most perennially popular comedies.
A young woman, Hermia, flees ancient Athens with her lover, only to be pursued by her would-be husband and her best friend. Unwittingly, all four find themselves in an enchanted forest, where fairies and spirits take an interest in the human affairs.
Love potions, mischievous spells and slapstick collides with courtly romance. Confusion ends in harmony as love is transformed, misplaced and ultimately restored. This production has a twist in that the mortal world in the much loved play is set in the 1940s, as a tribute to all our veterans on the anniversary of D-Day.
Tickets can be purchased through www.caods.org.uk or by calling 295229 for £10, with concessions at £8 for shows on May 28-31 at 7.30pm and Sunday, June 1, at 2.30pm.
Please allow extra time to reach the theatre from places other than Cowes due to the proposed one-way system cutting out Horsebridge Hill.
