Dionysus Theatre brings Coward to the Island

Dionysus Theatre brings its UK tour of Noël Coward’s Private Lives to the Apollo Theatre, Newport, for two nights only on June 20 and 21 — and it promises to be the most elegant disaster of the summer.

Coward’s iconic comedy follows ex-lovers, Elyot and Amanda, who, while honeymooning with their new spouses, discover they’re staying in adjoining hotel rooms. What follows is a cocktail of charm, chaos and crackling repartee — as irresistible as it is explosive.

The five-star revival has been hailed for its wit, style, and emotional punch. Robert Tremayne stars as Elyot, opposite Lauren Whedbee’s dazzling Amanda, joined by Kelly Verstappen as the innocent Sybil, David Upcraft as the dependable Victor, and director, Vicky Newman, as the ever-observant maid, Louise.

Dionysus Theatre has grown rapidly in recent years, earning critical acclaim and sell-out audiences across the UK. Their recent productions of La Mouette and The Woman in White both received five-star reviews and cemented the company’s reputation for inventive, high-quality theatre.

Whether you’re a Coward connoisseur, or simply love a night of laughter and luxury, Private Lives is not to be missed.

Tickets are available now from the Apollo Theatre box office and online via iw.observer/private-lives.
