A nurse, at a Wootton nursing home, has won a south-east region Great British Care Award, following a ceremony at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel on November 18.
Solent Grange Nursing Home’s deputy manager, Micha Legaspi, who came top in the Social Care Nurse category, will now go forward for the national awards with a ceremony to be held next March. The awards aim to recognise those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within the care sector.
More than 500 people attended the ceremony, hosted by James Argent from ‘The Only Way is Essex’ television series.
Micha won the award after being chosen from 12 finalists, and said: “To be recognised for something that I love and am passionate about means a lot to me. Being nominated and shortlisted for this award came as a surprise.
“I was over the moon when they announced me as the winner; I was not expecting this. I would like to dedicate this award to the Solent Grange Nursing Home team and our lovely residents.”
The nursing home was also shortlisted in the Care Home Team Award but were pipped to the post in that category.
