Medina Marching Band – by special invitation!

Medina Marching Band has been invited to take part in London Band Week.

The event, which takes place in July, is by invitation only and is based on the Honours system of the UK. Bands from across the world are assessed on two criteria: their core values and principles and their passion for performance excellence.

The main events are a historic musical pageant at the London Tattoo at the Royal Victoria Dock and the Palace Parade Review in the beautiful King’s Garden at Hampton Court Palace. The bands then compete for the King’s Shield at DrumLine London.

Kevin Downer, vice chairman of the Medina Marching Band, said: “This is a big event for the band, participating alongside some of the UK’s best youth marching bands and also the Band of HM Royal Marines and college bands from the USA: the University of Tennessee, Pride of the Southland Band and the Sounds of Success Community Marching Band.

“We are proud to be representing the Island at another prestigious event.”
