Man’s body found in Totland not being treated as suspicious

A man’s body has been discovered on the beach at Totland on Monday morning (October 1). 

The man is said to be in his 40s and a cordon is in place close to Totland Pier while emergency services recover the body.

The body was discovered on rocks close to Fort Warden Road.

Police, the ambulance service and the Coastguard are at the scene.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: “We were called at 8.10am this morning after the body of a man aged in his 40s was discovered on the beach at Totland.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened and to contact the man’s family.”

Update 12.25pm –

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: “The death is not being treated as suspicious.

“Enquiries are ongoing to contact the man’s family.

“A file will be prepared for the Coroner in due course.”
