Literary festival has something for everyone

Whether it be crime or romance, sport or politics, history or food, the Isle of Wight Literary Festival has something for you.

The festival is being held at Northwood House, Cowes, from October 5 to 8, and tickets are on sale now.

There are some huge names on the programme this year, from the Island’s own Dame Sheila Hancock talking about her 90 years, to the exciting musical finale on the Sunday starring another national treasure, Maureen Lipman.

“We’re fortunate to have these world class artistes as a grand finale to our 2023 Literary Festival. This will be a hugely popular event so book early to avoid disappointment,” advised programme director, Julia Dams.

And that’s not forgetting the BBC’s Justin Webb, best-selling author, Michael Morpurgo, and actress, Lydia Leonard, who starred in The Crown and Gentleman Jack, who will be speaking about how to bring an audio-book to life.

New this year is LitFeast, a section of the festival devoted to food and drink. Top names appearing here include food writer, Rosemary Shrager, and wine expert on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen, Helen McGinn. One of the Island’s top chefs, Robert Thompson, will be demonstrating some of his recipes.
