Road opens to connects Pan with St George’s Way

The main access road connecting the Barratt Homes Pan development to St George’s Way, Newport, has opened.

The Isle of Wight Council has welcomed the work on Godric Road, which runs from Staplers Road to the new roundabout by Asda supermarket.

The road has not yet been adopted by the local authority but the council has agreed it can be opened by the developer.

Council leader, Councillor Dave Stewart, said: “I am pleased this key route is open, which I know will relieve pressures some residents in the area have experienced.

“While there have been some delays, we made sure its completion was a priority.

“Working in partnership with Barratt Homes, we can now look towards more new homes being built as part of the next phase of the development.”
