Join Team Pride 2022

By IW Observer.co.uk Feb 21, 2022

Isle of Wight Pride is hosting a drop in session for anyone who is interested in becoming part of Team Pride.

IW Pride is one of many organisations that rely on volunteers to function. They have found Covid has impacted the amount of people who want to volunteer and get involved.

Anyone who wants to join in can go along to the drop-in session and discover plans for 2022 and how to take part in July, and also be involved with build-up in the coming months. Trustees and supporters who have been involved since the start of IW Pride in 2017 will be on hand to answer questions and to talk about opportunities.

Everyone is welcome, be it from within the LGBTQIA+ community to allies. Any skills or help on the day, or leading up to the big event, are all appreciated. Trustee, Laura Fraser, said: “Besides health and wellbeing, the last two years have changed many people’s lives, like their priorities in life and work life balance.

“The response to support each other during the last couple of years has been phenomenal with helping those in isolation and at vaccination centres, but we are now seeing a major impact in people coming forward to volunteer.

“Being part of Team Pride promises to be a rewarding experience for everyone and offers some amazing opportunities to get involved. Every offer of help counts, and IW Pride can help find you a role to be part of an amazing event for the Island and many visitors.”

The drop-in session will be held next Friday (Feb 25) at the Riverside Centre in Newport from 12.30pm-6.30pm. IW Pride will be on Saturday, July 16.

Anyone unable to drop-in on the day is invited to email info@iwpride.org for further information.
