Island author unleashes her ‘ROAR’ in Ryde launch

Kathryn Rossati

Something special roared to life at The Department, in Ryde, recently.

Local poet, Kathryn Rossati, celebrated the launch of her brand new poetry collection, RAW/ROAR, with a bang. On Tuesday, September 9 poetry lovers and community leaders turned up to celebrate the book, hot off the press from Island indie publisher, Lemon Jelly Press.

RAW/ROAR celebrates deeply personal yet universally relatable themes, from identity and resilience to finding your voice after a long silence.

The audience gave a huge round of applause and shared their own thoughts and feelings in a lively discussion following readings from the book.

Three guest poets, Lisa Scovell-Strickland, Jean G. Owen, and Jeni Law also took to the stage, adding to the evening’s creative energy.

Lottie Begg, from Lemon Jelly Press, summed up the evening, saying the event was about more than just one book; it was about “creating space for voices that need to be heard.”

RAW/ROAR is available through Lemon Jelly Press or at local shops.
