In yet another blow to Newport town centre shopping, customers were shocked to find the Swinton Insurance branch on the High Street, Newport, had closed down, forcing those with an insurance policy at Swinton to do their business online.
In response to enquiries by the IW Observer, a Swinton spokesperson said: “More than 80% of insurance customers choose to buy their policies online and as a result we are further reshaping our branch network to reflect the way customers now prefer to interact with us.”
The Isle of Wight branch, employing the equivalent of just over four full-time employees, closed on December 5. For customers who prefer to do their business over the counter, the nearest Swinton branch is in Portsmouth
