A new Facebook page has been set up to help promote Island pubs.
James Wilson, from Newport, has started ‘Wight Pubs and Inns’ specifically for pubs rather than restaurants and cafes. James, an aerospace aftermarket consultant who regularly drinks in the Woodman’s Arms, Wootton and Bargeman’s Rest, Newport, said: “These are very difficult times for pubs and I wanted to help all them on the Island.
“It puts them all on one central hub, so landlords can show off their menus, quiz nights, guest ales and forthcoming events. It’s there so everyone can make a contribution.
“However, it’s not for cafes and restaurants and there are no reviews. It’s there for all to see what is good and what is happening in the Island pub trade.
“It’s only been going for a week or go, but it’s really taken off; I’ve been quite surprised by the reception it’s received.
“But that’s good news and the more people who take part the better it will become.”
