A Harvest Festival was held for the first time at Thompson’s Garden Centre, Newchurch, last weekend.
There were more than 100 entries in a variety of categories, with organisers pleased with the uptake, considering the harsh growing conditions of the summer drought.
A spokesman said: “We are trying to acknowledge that anyone can have a go – ‘If you grow, have a go’ is the motto.”
As well as the show, there were a variety of charities in attendance including Hants & IW Wildlife Trust, RSPB, The IW Red Squirrel Trust, IW Woodturners (selling items for their charity, WightSAR), IW Spinners & Weavers, and the Vectis Vintage Tractor & Engine Club (who held a Pink Ladies charity ride-out). The ladies’ rally raised £643.34 for the charity.
