Josh Neale’s late winner secured 3 points, there was a Wessex win for Vics, and Newport also claimed a late win. Wight Eagles fly high after Hampshire win.
Island Divisions One and Two
In Division One, Champions W&B won 5-0 at home to Osborne Coburg, with a Harry Green hat-trick, and a goal apiece from Fin Kalaker and Dan Pearson. The 3 points put them joint top with West Wight, who drew 2-2 at home to Brading Town, after leading 2-1 at half-time. West Wight led through goals from Casey Tyrell and Brad Thomas, with the Romans replying through Caleb Dyer and stalwart Dan Vale, with Mitchell Walker yellow-carded.
Third-placed Ventnor won 4-0 at home to neighbours, Shanklin, with Lewis Kennett giving Ventnor the first-half lead. Harry Mulholland, Liam Harper and sub, Mark Taylor, added second half goals to secure the win.
Northwood won 3-2 at home to Oakfield, and the High Park v Bembridge match was postponed.
In Division Two, Newport Res won 7-5 at home to Pan Community, with goals from Josh Gwilliam, Martin McDonough, Robbie Shepherd (2), and a Ryleigh Wain hat-trick.
Newchurch won 4-0 away at Seaview, and in the table-topping clash, Sandown & Lake drew 0-0 at home to East Cowes Sports.
In the Saturday Hants Vase, East Cowes Vics Res won 4-1 at home to Shanklin Res, with goals from James Cheek, Harry Collier, Travis Pitman and Connor Furmidge, with veteran, Iain Seabrook, on target for Shanklin.
Combinations One and Two
Combination One leaders, W&B Res, won 6-0 away at Oakfield Res, with Theo Appell (2), Mark Augustus, Charlie Barnes, Matt Evans, and sub, Keir Ramage, on target for the visitors.
Brading Town Res won 7-1 away at Osborne Coburg Res, with goals from Brad Gamble, Leo Jones (2), Thomas Kirby, Jamie Linington, Niall Powell and Tim Shaw, with Isheanesu Goredema on target for Coburg.
Bembridge & Vectis Res won 4-3 at home to West Wight Res, with Leo Atkinson-Goffe, Bobbie Wye, Conor Plenty and sub, Brandon Tuckey, on target for the home side. Jordan Flynn’s hat-trick was not enough for the visitors.
High Park Res won 4-1 at home to Sandown & Lake Res, with a consolation strike from Oscar Fitzgerald.
In the Hants Vase, East Cowes Sports Res lost 7-0 at home to Overton.
Combination Two saw Binstead COB Res win 2-0 at home to Sandown & Lake A, with Craig Mason opening the scoring in the first half.
Evergreen Sam Hart secured victory in the second half, with 16-year-old Harry Keane named player-of-the-match and commended for a composed performance at right-back.
Brad Verstraeten was amongst the goals as Ventnor A won 4-0 at home to Oakfield A.
High Park A won 1-0 away at West Wight A, remaining unbeaten at the top of the division.
Wessex Leagues
Josh Neale’s hat-trick secured a much-deserved 3-2 victory for East Cowes Vics away at Hythe & Dibden in the Premier Division, heading the winner in the 94th minute.
Cowes lost 4-1 away at Andover New Street, with Scott McFarlane getting the consolation goal.
Ji Nash kept his nerve to slot home a 89th minute penalty for Newport, in their 1-0 home win against Totton & Eling, to maintain the ‘Port’s fourth spot in Division One.
Women’s Football
Hants Division Two’s Wight Eagles secured a much-merited 5-3 away win at Gosport Falcons, with 2 goals each from Aimee Rann and Kelsie Ronan, and 1 from Millie May Tinsley. However, they will be disappointed to have picked up yellow cards for Daisy-Boo Chapman and Erin Sharp.
