Garlic Festival

The Garlic Festival is back this weekend!

Since the first show in 1983, the IW Garlic Festival has grown to become the largest summer show on the Island. Held every year at a site on The Fighting Cocks crossroads, just outside of Newchurch, it is loved by families from near and far. The show plays host to star chefs, musicians, local charities and businesses and much more. With live music, children’s activities and, of course, lots of garlic, it is an event is not to be missed.

The star of the show – garlic – is grown in abundance in Newchurch. You’ll find it flavouring many products, available to eat, drink and buy.

For entertainment there is a live music stage, with bands playing throughout the day, Camp Garlic with free arts and crafts, the Airstream stage with magic, games, a dressing up tent and that’s just for starters. For the first time this year, beloved children’s character, Bluey, will be making a number of appearances on both days to make friends and appear in your photos.

Joining to give the crowds cookery demonstrations are Robert Thompson and Jayne Mugridge, who promise to deliver exciting recipes featuring plenty of local flavours.

So get along to the Island’s most quirky (and pungent) festival to eat, drink and stink! It’s open tomorrow and Sunday, from 10am until 6pm on both days.
