Food back on the menu in popular Shalfleet inn

The New Inn, Shalfleet, is now open seven days a week for food. The pub was taken over several weeks ago by Simon Cant and Liam White, who own The Castle Inn, Newport, and The Vine Inn, St Helens.

It originally reopened for drinks only, but it is now operating a full menu from 12-9pm on weekdays and 12-5pm on Sundays.

Simon said: “We took it over with a view to making it sustainable as it had been shut for quite a while.

“We’re hoping that, now we’re doing food, it will start to take off. There are still pubs on the Island who close in the early part of the week or who only serve drinks on Mondays and Tuesdays but we are here seven days a week with a traditional pub menu and daily specials.

“The locals love the fact we are open and we hope it benefits the village, and now we’re hoping to attract people from outside Shalfleet to give us a try to help us to make the business work.”
