Floating Bridge suspended following medical emergency

A medical emergency has prompted a multi-agency response near the Floating Bridge.

The Solent Coastguard helicopter, Fire Service and Ambulance Service are on the scene in Cowes after being called at around 1.14pm on Wednesday (September 26).

An Isle of Wight Council spokesman said: “An ambulance is in attendance.

“A launch service is being provided for foot passengers.

“An update will be provided when service resumes.”

HM Coastguard say they are assisting an unconscious male.

The helicopter has made use of the Red Funnel terminal for landing.

Update: The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been spotted hovering over Cowes at 2.30pm.

Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service attend and incident at the Floating Bridge

Update: The man was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital at around 4pm.
