Shanklin Bowls Club hosted Club Competition Finals Weekend, with volunteers battling against the elements to ensure the surface was fit for purpose. Newport C overcame Plessey F 57-38 in the final of the Harris Cup.
The Guy Cup was a closely contested encounter between Plessey A and Cowes Medina A, with Plessey A coming back from behind to narrowly win 71-70.
The season’s climax saw the Colin Ridett Trophy, played on a rain-soaked green, with the trophy lifted by Shanklin A after Plessey A conceded the match with Shanklin leading by 3 rinks to 1, and the score 74-48.
Plessey have enjoyed a very successful season with their ladies side recently collecting the Top Club trophy, from County President Mrs Carol Jones, after beating Cowes Medina A in the final.
