Figgy Gig season finale

By Press Release Jun 9, 2023

Boaters, bonnets, and Victorian swimwear were on display at CHOYD, in Yarmouth, last Friday to celebrate summer beside the Solent.

The show opened with the sonorous harmonies of The Watch. Phoenix-Sahar Egyptian Dance (Dawn Everest) gave a mesmerising performance with her fanfare of veils

. Steve Taverner lowered the tone with his vivisecting verses, Mayhem (Peter and Cheryl May) whimsied about life on the ocean wave, while Figgy Pud and Figgy Wiggy never got to swim across the Solent. Mrs Snelling (Heather Whatley) and Benjie had an encounter with a gallant lifeguard, Ross Westrop performed songs of the sea, and Graham Brown donned saucy swimwear for his recitations.

Poet Sandy Kealty, and singers, Bev Barber and Brian Thomas, added to the sunny atmosphere. The Wandering Minstrels, Martin Parsons and Shirley Dines, brought ukulele smiles to the stage with a seasonal finale.

Figgy Gigs resume in October.
