Two special events took place in Ventnor at the weekend, as the crowds flocked to the town. Ventnor Day, organised by local businesses, was celebrated on Saturday while, on Sunday, it was the Ventnor Summer Festival, put on by the town council.

Debbie Honeybourne, of Magpie Blu, said: “The businesses wanted Ventnor Day to be held in the town to promote all the shops and give the town a real community feel. We put on special offers with discounts and raffles, and there were markets in the Baptist Church and Ingram’s Yard.

“We had a guest appearance from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Whatevva, playing on the sea front, while the Ventnor Comic Jazz Band were also playing around the town.

“The Coast Guard and Fire Brigade also supported us and we will be back with Ventnor Day in 2026 to showcase our unique town and community.”

The Ventnor Summer Festival provided a day of entertainment in Ventnor Park the following day. There were craft stall holders, charities, local groups, sports clubs and Tee in the Park.

St Catherine’s School and Greg Barnes presented Music in the Park, with Corrine Atkins, Emilia, Amy Jolliffe and The Three Bears.

Dawn Belly Dancers, the Coastguard, and Ambulance Service CPR Training, all added to the occasion.
