Platform One and Wessex Cancer Support have teamed up to put on Arts Aid, a unique evening of upcoming talent, innovative performances, and inspiring creations, on Friday, May 17.
Platform One, which provides high-quality education for the creative industries, encouraged their students to choose a collaboration partner for their biggest showcase yet.
The young people selected Wessex Cancer Support, which provides emotional and well-being support for Islanders affected by cancer. As well as their Newport Support Centre, on Lugley Street, they also provide a Daisy Bus service to take Islanders from the ferries to mainland hospital appointments.
The event will be held at GG’s Bar and Restaurant, inside their giant venue hall. As well as enjoying performances from music students, the fashion department will debut a variety of collections on the catwalk.
The students will also be out busking over the next couple of months in various locations, including Wightlink ferries and the Red Funnel terminal, to raise money to decorate the hall for the evening. There will also be a raffle with some great music and fashion-related items and other prizes.
Tickets are on sale now. Advanced tickets are £10 and limited VIP tickets are available. All money raised will be used to support Islands affected by cancer.
