Engine room fire on board Wight Sky vehicle ferry

Hampshire fire fighters were scrambled to Lymington ferry terminal on Friday morning (December 14) following an engine room fire on board one of Wightlink’s vehicle ferries.

The fire broke out at around 7am in the engine room of the ‘Wight Sky’ vehicle ferry as it was berthed at Lymington.

In an update Wightlink said: “Our Lymington – Yarmouth service is currently suspended due to a fire on board the Wight Sky while in berth at Lymington. All customers and crew were disembarked safely and without any injuries.”

Wightlink is diverting customers to the Fishbourne-Portsmouth route.
