Don’t miss the greenest event on the Isle of Wight

By Press Release Jun 30, 2023

The Going Electric event returns to the IW College next month after 2022’s successful inaugural event, and it’s all set to be even bigger and better!

Last year saw almost 1,000 visitors to the largest electric vehicle (EV) and green technology show on the Island. This year you can see and hear about all the latest cars from Leslies Motor Group, Esplanade, Premier Motors, Central Garage, Snows, Harwoods, EV Express and Nixon Automotive. You can also ‘Meet the owner’ and ask fellow Islanders about the benefits of EVs and how they fit into their lives.

There will be electric vans on show and the opportunity to try out the latest e-bikes from Wight Bike, CycleWight, Keert and mobility charity, Isle Access.

Almost 40 trade stands will provide information on EV charging, renewable energy, marine innovations, green home ideas and more. There’s even an EV Driving School at this not-to-miss event. The IW College’s EV rig will be on show and you can discuss the future of training and opportunities on offer in this quickly growing industry.

Talks from leading experts will take place on EV charging, financing, innovation and the Island’s infrastructure and sustainability plans, all sponsored by Red Funnel. All that learning might make you peckish, so you can refuel with refreshments from the WI, Island Tea & Coffee and Plaza Ices.

This free event, organised by Wight Community Energy, is again sponsored by WightFibre with support from Power to Change and the National Lottery Fund.

The show takes place on Sunday, July 30 from 10am to 4pm at the Isle of Wight College where there is plenty of free parking.

Put it in your diary now – and be sure not to miss it!
