Disappointing defeat in this week’s rugby

Sandown's Damian Seder competing at line-out

Visitors (and fellow islanders!) Guernsey narrowly overcame Sandown & Shanklin Hurricanes 32-31 in a closely contested match. The Island’s Damien Seder competed at the line-out, forward, Sam Flux, put in a shift, and winger, Harry Thomas, worked to exploit pace and space.

In a neck and neck match, the visitors led 27-26 going into the last quarter of the game, and scored a try to increase their lead to 32-26. A dramatic final five minutes saw the Hurricanes score a try to narrow the score to 32-31, but they were disappointed to be unable to convert from a difficult position, as they lost by a single point.

This weekend, Sandown & Shanklin travel to Havant II in Division One. In Division Two, Isle of Wight welcome Fareham Heathens, with Ventnor home to Southampton in Division Three.
