Daring colleagues take the plunge in charity skydive

Clare Jones and Lorna Cotton from Asda Newport are taking part in a skydive to raise money for a local school and a cancer charity.

The daredevil pair raised nearly £1,500 for a sensory garden for The Bay CE Primary School and a further £150 for Wessex Cancer Trust.

Clare, who’s the store’s community champion, said: “It was a fantastic day. I didn’t enjoy the freefall bit, but once the parachute opened it was brilliant.

“I’m glad I’ve done it, although I don’t think I’ll ever do a skydive again!

“We went up on different planes. It was extremely nerve-wracking but just an incredible experience. It was Lorna’s second skydive, but she was still thrilled by it.

“Lorna is a great colleague who loves to fundraise for local causes. Her son attends this school and she’s on the PTA, so she’s always helping at various events to raise money for them.

“All the colleagues here always get behind any colleague or community fundraising, which is truly a great feeling!”

Clare and Lorna were two of 14 people skydiving on the day to raise money for the school.
