Dan takes the top spot in Masters International Half Marathon

As well as showing form on the track, Ryde Harrier’s Daniel Eckersley, has excelled on the roads by winning the Masters International Half Marathon, incorporated into the Manchester Half Marathon, with Dan running for England, in the 35-39 category, against some of the best runners in the country.

He set off with Welsh International Tom Roberts very close to the front of the field, and it soon became clear the championship would be decided between the pair. Dan eventually opened up a gap to cross the line in 68m 25s, with a 17s margin.

Geoff Watkin said: “This has been an excellent spell for Dan, who has performed at a very high level on the track and roads, showing he is clearly one of the best in his age group in the UK.’’
