Christ the King students won two first awards in the Dance LIVE competition at the Guildhall, Portsmouth, on Saturday (February 6).

A spokesman for the school said: “Students have been working tirelessly, led by their own committee, to put together a piece entitled ‘Betrayal Beneath the Big Top’.

“The originality of the story earned the students their first award for ‘Concept’. The students also earned a very respectful second place in the heats, which staff and parents were so proud to see them achieve after a difficult year of rehearsals!

“The team also won the award for the ‘Best Journey Video’, created by Caitlin Elliot in year 13, showing the team’s progress from our first practice to the big show!

“From the costumes to the make-up, the choreography to the concept, the piece was 100 per cent student created and demonstrated the talents of our pupils. We had the most amazing day and thank the Guildhall for putting this event together.

“Dance LIVE provides an opportunity for creativity and expression and we can’t wait for the next event in 2023! Well done to everyone involved!”

The students were supported by staff and volunteers who travelled with them for the event.
