The IW Observer has been contacted by several readers asking if we can clarify how the numbers of confirmed number cases of coronavirus at St Mary’s Hospital on the Isle of Wight are formulated.

The total as of today was 104 confirmed cases, and we can confirm they DO include those who have already had the virus, and recovered and been discharged from St Mary’s, as well as those who have sadly passed away at the hospital with a COVID-19 related illness.

As of today, 22 people have died at the hospital, and as of last Sunday, 21 people admitted to St Mary’s to have tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered and been discharged. This means that currently 61 people are being treated at St Mary’s with coronavirus.
