A record-breaking crowd of more than 700 took part in the fifth Island ‘Dash in the Dark’, at Robin Hill last Saturday.
The event raised a total of £27,000 for the Hants & IW Air Ambulance, enough to fund eight emergency missions.
It was the first time the Dash had been held at the venue, with numbers increasing by around 40 per cent compared to last year’s event.
Runners and walkers dressed in their brightest outfits, with fluorescent accessories and colourful costumes lighting up the night as they all came together.
Keith Wilson, director of income and engagement at Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, said: “I am blown away by the response we’ve had this year. It’s by far the biggest year we’ve ever had.
“Whether they have supported their Air Ambulance for many years, or this is the first time they have encountered us, each person is now playing their part in helping to save lives across our region. On behalf of our charity and our future patients: ‘Thank you!'”
