As Red Funnel’s problems continue during a week of further cancellations and delays, the woman at the top of the company may have hit on one of the issues that is causing such anguish at the company.

CEO Fran Collins spoke this week at a 50th anniversary celebration event for Wista UK – an organisation committed to diversity in the maritime, trading and logistics sectors.

On LinkedIn she is thanked for her contribution to the celebrations where she spoke about diversity and inclusion. She apparently admitted that she was a ‘difficult woman’ and that female leaders should be aware of their “reputation and reach” and that they should be “present” to inspire others.

As the accompanying picture makes clear Ms Collins was in London so was not ‘present’ at Red Funnel to inspire or guide her beleaguered team.

Her reputation as a ‘difficult woman’ may be behind the loss of yet another senior manager at Red Funnel to add to list of others that have decided to leave the company recently. They are apparently recruiting in the IT department!
