Can you help the pub with no beer?

A pub is staying open this week, despite being unable to serve alcohol.

Charlotte and Nick Edwards took over The Sun Inn, Hulverstone, in August, and were stunned to find out that the alcohol licence they had expired this week.

However, they are desperate to keep the pub open, especially as the summer season is now over.

Charlotte said: “We will have a temporary notice to serve alcohol again on Wednesday. In the meantime, we can still serve food, with our daily specials, along with hot and soft drinks.

“So, we are inviting people to bring in their own alcohol to have with a meal here. We are relying on people’s goodwill to keep us going.

“We cannot afford to close and we want to make this work. We have worked so hard since we opened. We are determined to keep this place open and make it a community hub once again.

“But this is a massive blow and we need everyone’s support right now to help us through. Even when we get the temporary notice, it will only come into effect for seven days and we are back at square one until another temporary notice comes into place.

Basically, we will have to wait for 28 days until we have a full licence in place again.

“This is another bump in the road, but we will strive to continue to keep the pub going and bring it back to its former glory.”
