Brading Festival of Heroes cancelled

A fundraising family orientated event has been called off.

The Festival of Heroes at Brading Roman Villa will not run as planned on Saturday (July 28) or Sunday (July 28).

Event organisers took to Facebook to let would-be attendees know the unfortunate news that the charity’s “biggest event of the year” was cancelled.

At 8am they posted a picture of a buckled gazebo, knocked out of shape by strong overnight winds.

The decision was taken to ban small structures from the event at this stage.

Then at 8.30am organisers made the decision to cancel based on “very high gusts of wind here on site”.

They do plan to do another event and say they will be in touch with anyone who bought a ticket or paid for a pitch “ASAP”.

The event was scheduled to run from 11am to 5pm on July 28 & 29.

Event organisers have been approached for further information.
