Be a farmer for the day at the County Show!

Have you ever wondered what farming life would be like? The Royal Isle of Wight County Show is fast approaching, and it promises a fun-filled day for Islanders and visitors alike. This year’s family-friendly event offers an incredible opportunity for everyone to feel like a farmer for the day, with plenty of attractions and activities that cater to all ages.

One of the main highlights of the show is the Show Farm, where you can get up close and personal with a variety of farmyard animals, offering an educational and fun experience with plenty of ‘Have a Go’ opportunities. Ever fancied herding a pig? Could you lead a sheep or a calf, or even take an alpaca for a stroll? As well as making great memories there will be some fantastic photo opportunities – especially if you and the animals have different ideas!

The entertainment for animal lovers doesn’t stop there. The show also features impressive sheepdog demonstrations, showcasing the dogs’ incredible skills and intelligence. If you’re a dog lover, you won’t want to miss the thrilling dog scurry and races either.

For those curious about dairy farming, Briddlesford Dairy Farm will be demonstrating the milking process, allowing you to watch a cow being milked up close. It’s a fascinating insight into one of the many important tasks that farmers carry out daily – and it’s not as easy as it looks!

There will be lots more going on all around the County Showground at Northwood. The Royal Isle of Wight County Show is more than just another event; it’s a unique glimpse into the Island’s rural life and community and a day you won’t forget.

It all takes place on Saturday and Sunday, July 13 and 14. Book your early-bird tickets now via iw.observer/countyshow.
