Appeal for witnesses after woman assaulted on the Island

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 60-year-old woman was assaulted whilst on the Esplanade in Shanklin on Wednesday 13 June.

The incident happened between 7.50pm and 8.05pm near to Coles Bazaar.

A man threw a sandwich board at the woman, hitting her in face and shoulder resulting in swelling and bruising.

A 26-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of assault and later released under investigation.

However, officers would like to appeal to for witnesses to assist the investigation.
