The King’s Head, Yarmouth, has new managers, who only went into the pub business together in May when they took over The Sun Inn, Calbourne.

Business partners Peter Greenhalgh and Jake Rigby have transformed The Sun with a series of themed events, including live music, charity quizzes, open mic nights and bikes and burgers.

Jake said: “After four months of work at The Sun we were presented the opportunity to take over The King’s Head and we’ve never been the type to shy away from a challenge or opportunity.

“The Sun gave us a new-found love for the west of the Island and the King’s Head allows us to jump in head first to the area. We have sourced a fantastic, passionate new chef and we are all very excited to launch a new menu along with a diverse selection of guest ales.

“The King’s Head also boasts the only pool table in the area and it is the best spot to enjoy pub favourites and a new range of chef specialities.”

Pete started as a glass collector at the Folly Inn and then went on to manage 1,000-capacity nightclubs and beach bars in Brighton for 16 years. Briefly returning in 2015 and working doors in Ryde, Pete came to meet Jake and they have remained in contact ever since.

Jake started glass collecting in Coburgs before moving to the bar and has since worked in and run various places around Ryde. He also worked as a doorman for a year and spent seven years in the care sector looking after vulnerable adults with learning difficulties.
