West Wight Alpacas and Llamas have opened a new shop ‘Crackers about Alpacas’ in Yarmouth where people can book to make visits to their farm in Wellow or buy local products.

MP Richard Quigley cut the ribbon with Rosie Payne, daughter of owners Neil and Michelle Payne, accompanied by alpacas Huckleberry and Hairy Maclary.

Michelle said: “We’re stocking yarn wool from our own alpacas as well as alpaca scarves made from their fleeces and teddy bears.

“There is also a selection of gifts and fairtrade products we get from Peru. I travel there a couple of times a year and buy the products and make sure the makers get 100 per cent of the money. We’re lucky to have two local ladies who are expert knitters and make all our garments.

“Visitors are also able to book a trip to the farm from here so, hopefully, we will attract more people there.”
