WOW! Knit, natter and make teddies

Hand-knitted teddies made by a member of the Women on the Wight’s (WOW!) Knit and Natter group have been delivered to the IW Police in Newport.

Gwen Holmes dropped them off following an appeal for people to knit teddies the police could give to young children they came in contact with.

A police spokesman said: “The bears are very appreciated, especially by the children that they are provided to when we attend domestic abuse cases. All donations of these bears are deeply appreciated by the constabulary and we kindly ask if the community would still like to make more of these; they would be well received.”

Knitting instructions can be found at bit.ly/3MLKpAE and how to crochet the bears at bit.ly/3t4OIPO. The finished toys can be dropped off at any police station.

The Knit and Natter group is now working on teddies for the Ukraine.
