Concert-goers from across the Island will have the opportunity to sample the ‘new’ Ryde Chorus next Saturday (July 8) at St Catherine’s Church, Ventnor at 7pm.

The choir will sing a programme to include the Fauré Requiem, and Sacred Songs by Karl Jenkins. Soloists Tressa Lambert (soprano) and Aaron Briggs (baritone), with musicians Kirstie Robertson (violin), Christine Ward (cello), Danielle Clarke (harp), and James Longford (piano/organ) will join the choir.

A spokesman said: “Following a highly successful concert of renaissance to contemporary choral music at Ryde in May, the first with the new music director, Jurgita Leistrumaite, Ryde Chorus is looking forward to developing its repertoire and building a loyal, enthused audience.

“Central to this aim is attracting new members. As one of the longest-standing choirs on the Island, 30 years this year, a large number of enthusiastic amateur singers have enjoyed belonging to the Ryde Chorus family, and we are now on the lookout for new members in all voices.

“The choir is a lively and friendly group performing works dating back to Henry VIII and right up to the present day.

“If you enjoy singing and you’d like to join us, why not come and listen to us at the concert – and if you are interested, talk to any choir member to find out more. Alternatively, contact Anne on 07771 632618.”
