Work to Belgrave Road to last more than a year

By Press Release Oct 11, 2021

Preliminary works are under way at Belgrave Road in Ventnor. The main scheme, to reinstate the failed wall and road, will get under way later this month.

Local company, Stoneham Construction, has been appointed to undertake the main works which are expected to last just over a year, before completing in autumn 2022.

The work will see the collapsed wall dismantled and the area behind it stabilised, before a new wall is built, and the road and footway reconstructed. A natural stone finish will be used to replace the wall in keeping with others in the surrounding area. The new parapet wall will also be higher than it was to conform with the latest safety requirements.

Scaffolding has also been erected on Esplanade Road to enable them to undertake any strengthening works on the walls supporting the terraces before the main work on site begins.
